Organic Crops: How Profitable Have They Become?

By Rob Sutter

Personally speaking, I am all for a more prevalent usage of organic crops. To me, these are some of the finest, seeing as how there is nothing in the way of manmade properties that can be tied to them. However, how many people have given a lot of thought to the finances that such crops are capable of? To me, they have the chance to be immensely successful and I'd like to believe that they could be quite profitable if people took the time to look at the facts.

The industry in which organic crops find themselves in is a prosperous one, as an article on SustainableBusiness.com talked about. According to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements, it is a $63 billion industry on a worldwide level. It's a great line of work that has produced a tremendous amount of funds, as you could very well imagine. This is a great bit of news for those who are invested in networks which connect farmers and consumers, Colle Farmers Market being one such example.

It seemed like growth had occurred since 2002. Since that time, it had perpetuated until the point of 170% growth, as the article spoke about. Rounding out the statistics, it seems like there was a rate of 19% increase per year in terms of natural products. The United States has been regarded as the biggest organic market and it seems like other areas of the world are starting to get in on this trend, which I find to be a fantastic movement.

I don't think it's any wonder why this increase has been seen over the course of several years. With more and more people becoming aware of pesticides and other synthetic properties, it seems like common nature for individuals to go out and find products which are more worth their time without harming them in the long run. Perhaps people will talk about the prices and say they aren't feasible. However, I've seen many examples in which they are set just right, thus creating more business.

When it comes to the best prices, sometimes it's difficult to find the organic crops that are worth your time and money. People who know where to shop aren't going to have this problem nearly as often but how do you know which shops are the best? You probably have a general idea of your typical market and the rates which may not be entirely affordable for everyone. However, if you're able to search, then you may be surprised by the kinds of affordable markets that can come down the pipeline.
