By Cherry Mercer

College can be tough and can even be become more challenging when you are away from home. You may not be able to afford the things you used to. You do not have the comforts of home. Dorm or apartment living presents a number of challenges because you are officially living independently. This is the reason why care package for college students can be a big help.

There are really no established rules regarding what this item should contain. It actually depends on the needs of the receiver or what you think she misses the most. This is a great way to show that you care and that you are thinking of her. The following are some ideas with what you can put in this package.

When money is running low, food is one of the things that may have to be minimized. Consider sending some food products. When you are collecting items for this particular purpose, make sure that they are designed for long storage. Mini meals, snacks, and other food items can be among the things to send.

School supplies can also be a big drain on finances. Setting up your kid with a new supply of paper, folders, and computer supplies can ease some of the demands. He will probably need pens, highlighters and other writing materials. If you are not sure what materials to buy, then try calling her to determine what she is running low on.

Give her a months supply of shampoo, soap, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, even deodorant. It will help reduce his trips to the grocery and reduce expenses on her part. Laundry basics can also be added. Most of these students will probably wait before they have almost nothing to wear. Include detergent, quarters, and the like.

Your daughter or son will surely appreciate having some decorating supplies for his room. Remember when you first moved in to your first apartment and everything was bare. This is what your daughter is probably going through. Curtains, study lamps, and throw pillows can be some of the things you could send for her new place.

She will probably not be thinking of emergencies when she moves in to her new place. You could put together a first aid kit for those unfortunate incidents. Band aids, bandages, and an antiseptic should get you started. You could also add some over the counter products for common conditions like fever or flu.

They can be sent every period or so and during special occasions. The time your daughter officially moves in to her new place is one. Exams week are highly stressful and you can show your support at these times. Birthdays, anniversaries, and other such occasions are more reasons to give your daughter these treats.

Anybody who has gone away for college knows the difficulties that your kids are bound to face once they start living on their own. Your daughter may find it hard to adjust to the new environment and may even have budgeting problems. It will be helpful to send a care package for college students every once in a while.
