Many Bread Types From All Over The World

There is little doubt that the development of bread and baking is one of the most important things to ever happen in the history of man. There are many types of breads for any occasion, and they have been developed over a long and diverse history around the world. It is enjoyed by every culture and inmost homes around the world at every meal in one form or another.

Evidence has been found that baked goods were being prepared as early as 30,000 years ago in Europe. The secret to making breads as you know them in modern form was the development of leavening agents such as yeast. The baked products evolved into a mainstay of food over the centuries and today is found in some form in every home around the world.

Baked goods are a vital part of meals all over the world. They are nutritious, they are economical to make, they are filling, and they complement just about any other type of food in a rich and fulfilling way. There are hundreds of different categories and types that have become a key factor in the food culture of people all over the globe.

Among the all-time popular styles around the world is sourdough. This favorite is produced by letting the risen dough ferment slightly before baking. This fermentation process gives the final item a distinctive bitter flavor that complements many different flavor profiles.

The category of sweetbreads is one of the largest. Traditionally, they are served as a breakfast item, with coffee for a tea service or as part of a dessert. These days, however, they have found their way onto tables for every meal. Using sweetbreads as a base for sandwiches has become quite popular and gives a new take on old favorites.

A favorite all over the world is the pretzel breads category. This form comes from the Bavarian region in central Europe more than two hundred years ago. A sourdough style allowed to develop even longer and then washed with a lye solution to provide a hard, bitter outer crust that baked up to a deep caramel color with a sweet nutty flavor. It pairs well with butters as well as cheeses. It is often rubbed with oils and rolled in salt to add another dimension of flavor.

It provides a nutritious, enjoyable and easy to make food that is a staple for just about every culture worldwide. The food has had a long history and without a doubt, it will continue to evolve for many thousands of years more.
