Anyone that owns a backpack, briefcase, or carries their laptop or notebook computer in a bag may suffer from back pain because of the way they carry it. Your discomfort can definitely be attributed to the distribution of weight in the way you carry this weight. The way that you carry your purse, if you have one, can also add to the back discomfort that you may experience. You could carry something smaller or make it lighter. If you're going on a vacation, or a business trip, always use a bag that rolls. This will be much easier on your back if you're able to roll your heavy items, including bags and suitcases or anything else that you habitually take with you.

Old age often gets blamed for aches and pains that did not actually occur then, but well in advance to the time you started noticing them. Osteoporosis, more common in women, weakens the bones and makes fractures more likely to occur. Your spine is the particular part of the body that will most likely suffer from osteoarthritis; although it can affect all parts of the body.

It is a challenge to avoid back pain, especially since it can be caused by so many variables. Lazy people, and those that are overachievers, can experience this same type of discomfort. Your pain might be caused by something as simple as your high heels, an old mattress, and a variety of other factors. All you can do is try to identify what tends to cause back pain in your life, and do your best to keep it to a minimum.
