Legumes, vegetables, fruits and whole grains are all high in fiber. A properly working digestive system also improves bowel movement which cleanses the body of toxins and waste.

Not all fat is unhealthy. The body needs intake of monounsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids as well. They are beneficial to functions of the heart and brain. The fats that are harmful are saturated fats and trans-fats. These can lead to cardiovascular sickness, obesity, and inflammation.

A good diet will reduce your sodium intake. Salt increases the risk of high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases. Processed foods as well as junk food are very high in sodium. It would be best to limit your sodium intake and only use the recommended amount. Check the sodium content of the different food you eat.
