If you're looking for an alternative place to meet, drink and be merry and catch a small delicious bite to eat, try some wine bars in New York City. You can't go wrong with any of these places; you get a top-class choice of great wines, food pairings and the ideal place.

AYZA Wine and Chocolate Bar

Known as among the best wine bars in New York City, together with its super informed staff (who treat you with respect regardless if your not a wine aficionado), you get restaurant-caliber small plates of food. At Terroir, they've a policy of letting you taste anything on their "by the glass" list before you try it. Always busy and a smaller version of it's sister bistro in Tribeca, this East Village bar has changed into a must go-to for wine buffs.

8th Street Wine Bar

For a little various list of boutique wines, 8th Street Wine Bar is the place to go. It offers chic, easy decor and tasty little plates of cheese, meat, oysters and their favored menu item "pig's in blankets". Their staff is nice , informed and the service is great. This Greenwich Village wine bar has a reasonable Happy Hour of $18 bottles, so it gets crowded but is definitely worth the wait to get in.
