Following the success in the store of Noble, both McGullough and Noble decided to create their own store that sells only that soft serve product created by McGullough. It was at this point where the first store of Dairy Queen was born. Their original store was located somewhere in Joliet, Illinois sometime in the forties.
Problems arose when the Second World War started in the year 1941. The war destroyed so many families and homes and even crippled the economy of every country that was hit by it. Although DQ was badly affected by the war, it still was able to survive and was even able to shine when the war officially ended.
At this period of time, there were already about a hundred establishments in the United States of America. After ten long years, the numbers reached to even more than a thousand and was still growing in number. Texas is the state that is known to have the most DQ stores in the entire United States of America.
This craze just grew and grew over the years until it reached an international level and became well loved by people around the world. In 2006, they already had themselves five thousand plus stores in around twelve countries. In 2010, they had reached out to about nineteen countries with more than a total of six thousand branches already.
