Organic Farms in the Zelda Series

By Rob Sutter

Video games are something that I like immensely but I feel like the amount of creative freedom they possess is most important. You have to consider that these titles can be so far removed from reality, which is partially why they are so fun. In addition, a universe can be crafted to look like our own and people can become immersed in that as well. Organic farms are a legitimate topic and I think that one possible video game franchise can properly showcase it in the several titles.

"The Legend of Zelda" is home to many subjects which tend to repeat themselves time and time again. When you're playing through this series of games, you're most likely going to see that but the one quality that seems to come about most commonly is the color green. This is both the color of the woods and the grassy areas which make up for Hyrule and the attire hue of the main hero, Link. To say that this hue shows itself more often than not would be an understatement.

"Twilight Princess," one of the games in the series, shows Link as a farm hand and he has many tasks to attend to. While he's strong in terms of roping in various animals, would he be able to prove himself as strong worker for organic farms? I think that this would be the case when you think about how much enthusiasm he possesses, which is just one factor out of many. It's apparent that his work would help the farm sell its crops, no matter if entities like Colle Farmers Market would come into play or not.

The Zelda titles also seem to be known for fetch quests, many of which are time sensitive. Basically, if Link is going from person to person for items and one item does not go to its owner right away, then the quest has been failed. Link has to move fast if he were to bring these locally grown products about. Perhaps more people would do business with the farm if they know that the nimble farm hand would be able to get to them in a timely manner.

The products of organic farms are meant to be pure no matter what but local farms produce fresher ones. Basically, they aren't going to be brought countryside on a truck or any form of transportation you could think of. If Link had the task of carrying these examples of produce around, he would have to be fast in order to keep that level of freshness at a high level. Then again, Link has made a famous life for himself by tackling perilous dungeons so it's very possible he can accomplish this as well.
