Early planning and preparedness is very significant because emergency situation, natural or synthetic disasters and calamities can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone. A lot of people is not aware regarding the importance of starting to prepare and plan for the possibility of any disaster, calamity or emergency to happen, but it is a vital information that could help to increase an individual's chance of survival if ever these things will happen. The first thing that can be done in order to increase you and your family's chance of survival from these calamities and disaster is to have and emergency food storage and here are some factors that should be considered when panning your own survival food storage:

-Well-balanced, easy to store and easy to prepare foods are among the recommended foods to be included in an emergency food storage therefore you have to make sure that you will include these types of food when making a list for the survival foods that you will store. Aside from that, be sure to include foods that are rich in proteins, quality fats, carbohydrates and vitamins and minerals since these kind of foods can help to provide proper nutrients needed by your body especially during emergency situations.

-Be sure to include water in the food list that you need for survival. Water supply that is clean and safe to drink and use is difficult to find during emergency situations or when calamities and disasters strike, storing enough water for consumption when this incidents happen will be very significant and plays a major role in survival.

-Look for an area in your house that you can utilize for you to store your emergency food storage. Just make sure that the are is cool, dry, clean and free from rodents and insects that can contaminate your food.

-Another important thing to do is to always check your survival food storage and replace those that are already expired. Checking your food list every 4-6 months is highly-recommended.

The following are some foods that are recommended to be part of your emergency food storage:

-Peanut butter is a good source protein, calories, carbohydrates and fats,making it a good candidate to be included in your emergency survival food storage. Aside from that, it also lasts long and is easy to store and prepare.

-Because of its long shelf life and it is also easy to prepare, canned goods are one of the most recommended foods to be stored and consumed during emergency situations. Aside from that , there are also canned goods that contain considerable amounts of nutrients that may help your body to sustain through disaster and calamity. You can choose among these types of canned goods to be included in your emergency food storage, sardines, pasta, canned meats, canned beans and tuna.

-Rice or oatmeal. Rice and oatmeal are good sources of carbohydrates and other vitamins, thus these are considered as good food to include in your survival food list.

-Noodles, pasta and cereals, also known as dehydrated goods, have a good shelf life and are inexpensive making them an ideal food to be included in your list of emergency food storage.

-Bottled water- bottled water should not be forgotten and deleted on your list of survival foods. Water plays a major role to make sure that you and your family will survive during emergency situations like disaster and calamity.

Food and water shortage during emergency situations are very much possible. That is why it is very significant to ensure that you are prepared in terms of food and water to be consumed by you and your family if an emergency happens because these will help to increase your chances of survival especially during difficult times.
