By Lila Barry

Raw foodists and vegans are just some of the people who enjoy eating raw food snacks. There are many health benefits associated with the regular consumption of organic, wild, unprocessed and uncooked foods. Many raw food snacks include some variation of nuts, seeds, vegetables and fruits.

Many books and websites offer snack recipes and information on raw diets. They might also include tips and tricks on how to prep and eat raw foods. There are many different options for snacks and meals that are healthy and taste delicious. Typically preparation of raw meals includes the use of one or more of the following items: juicer, dehydrator, blender, food processor. These devices can help give raw food a texture and taste of cooked food.

Making trail mix is an option for a snack. Typically this includes seeds and nuts in their raw form. These may need to be soaked for some time to make them digestible and activate enzymes, as well as deactivate any and all enzyme inhibitors. The length of soaking will vary depending on the seeds and nuts. This is a good option for people who are on the go, as the mix is easily portable.

Snacks may also be made using fruits and vegetables. Fruits are well-liked because they are usually sweet and contain natural sugars. They are usually refreshing to eat and can be perfect for summertime or hot weather. Individuals can also freeze their fruit to make it more refreshing but doing this lowers the enzyme activity. Still, fruits are ideal for making smoothies, combined with ice and other fresh ingredients. They might also be cut up, mixed together and served as a fruit cocktail. Some people add fruits, such as berries and oranges, to salad recipes.

Raw vegetables are another treat. Many people like to eat these separately, with nothing added. Those who prefer dipping sauces have a variety of recipes to choose from, many of which utilize other raw ingredients.

Both vegetables and fruits can be consumed in juice form. These juices are usually 100 percent raw and provide many benefits. In liquid form, the body more easily absorbs the nutrients. There are several appliances on the market that can be used for this purpose.

A salad can be served as a snack. This is a good way to mix together vegetables, fruits, and nuts and seeds. Salads are typically more filling than traditional snacks but are typically easy and quick to throw together. These dishes are also known for being cool and refreshing.

Raw food snacks are treats that may be preferred by raw foodists, vegans, vegetarians or others who are interested in the raw diet. Most of the recipes are simple to prepare and offer a mix of vegetables, seeds, fruits and nuts. Juicing is a popular method that involves mixing many of these elements into one drink. Because these are in liquid form, the body can absorb the nutrients quickly.
