When to Give Gourmet Cookie Baskets as Gifts

By Lori Warner

The idea of giving unique gift baskets with candy, gourmet cookies or cheeses is not a new one by any means but for many gift givers and receivers, it is one of the best-loved gifts.

However, even within the category of gourmet gift baskets, gourmet cookies are especially popular. They are something that almost everyone enjoys and that most of us rarely, if ever, bake or buy just for ourselves.

There is a very real kind of excitement that comes from unwrapping a gift basket, especially if it is a basket filled with lovingly crafted homemade cookies.

You can easily customize your own unique gift baskets to make sure that they are perfectly suited to your recipient. For instance, if you know that they love pecan sandies but are not so crazy about chocolate, you can create a gift basket which caters to their tastes. Additionally, if your recipient happens to be vegan, you can make egg and dairy-free cookies; if they have a gluten allergy, you can bake gourmet cookies which are gluten free to accommodate their dietary needs. No matter what type of cookies the person you are making a gift basket for, you can make sure that it is something they will love.

There is really no time that a unique gift basket is not a good idea. The presentation and adapting of it to the specific event being celebrated or recognized is one of the keys to giving gourmet gift baskets as gifts. The costs and amount of decoration can vary from one type of basket to the next depending on who it is for and what they are being honored for.

It is hard to imagine someone not opening up a gourmet cookie gift basket and not being moved to smile by the aroma and sight of their favorite cookies. As they always say, it is the thought that counts in gift giving - and with one of these gift baskets, the thought and care which went into the making and presentation of the gift could not be more obvious or more touching. You could buy any number of premade gifts for your recipient, but the fact that you put something of yourself into the gift makes it all the more meaningful and even more deeply appreciated.
